Throughout the next several months, leading up to the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the City of Stockton, selections from old newspapers will be “snipped” and featured in a “Snippets of the Past” column.

K-123 to close for reconstruction

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to close K-123 in Decatur and Sheridan counties in early August for reconstruction. The $4.4 million project will widen the pavement and add asphalt shoulders on the full 6 miles starting at the K-23 junction and ending at the K-383 junction.

Hansen Museum to host 7th annual 5K Run & 2M Fun Walk

The Hansen Museum in Logan will host the 7th annual 5K Run & 2M Fun Walk on Saturday, August 20th. The entry fee is $20.00 for Adults and $10.00 for Children 15 and Under, with all proceeds to benefit Phillips County Hospice. Participants who register before Friday, August 5th will receive a t-shirt. All participants must have a signed waiver to compete. Medals and prizes will be awarded.

Accidents with animals make up this week’s report

On June 11, at about 10:45 p.m., Lawrence Chesney, age 70, of Plainville, was traveling west on U Rd. about one-half mile from 21 Rd., when he struck a calf. Chesney was wearing his seatbelt, and no injuries were reported. Chesney’s 2011 Chevrolet Colorado pickup was damaged across the front but was driveable.

Hobart Homemakers FCE

The Hobart Homemakers FCE group met Monday, July 25, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Stockton at 7 p.m. Susan G. opened the meeting with the flag salute. Kim read the FCE motto. Roll call was, "What entries are you taking to the fair?” We had five members answering roll call. The minutes and treasurer’s report were read and approved from the last meeting. Janie updated us on the "Heart and Soul” walks and glad to hear others have joined us. Janie presented a bill for the supplies for the fair booth.

KATHY, JALIA AND JAYANA CREIGHTON participated at the Osborne County Fair Dog Show July 25th. Kathy showed KC in Rally and received a Blue ribbon, received a Blue ribbon in Showmanship, and in Obedience with a perfect score, she received a Grand Champion. Jalia, showing Lucy, received a Blue in Showmanship, a Red in Obedience, and a Reserve Champion in Rally. With Sam, she received a White in Obedience and a Blue in Rally. Jayana, showing Rocky, received a Blue in Rally, Reserve Champion in Obedience, and a Champion ribbon in Showmanship. Way to go, Creightons!
