Sponsored by the Stockton National Bank, and coming to Stockton from their Branson engagement at the Caravelle Theatre were the Liverpool Legends, for a one-night-only performance at Stockton’s historic Nova Theatre on March 13th. This Beatle’s tribute band was sanctioned by the late, great George Harrison’s sister, Louise, and the “Fab Four” had been performing in Branson on a regular basis for the past two years. The group had performed in Stockton in October of 2003 when they headlined under the name of American English. Since then, the band had reorganized with two of the original members still performing, and they were now garnering even more accolades than ever before.

The friends and neighbors of James R. Beckley proved themselves real Samaritans last Thursday when they assembled at the Beckley farm and harvested Mr. Beckley’s corn. Mr. Beckley was taken to the Concordia Hospital several week ago and is suffering with an attack of Bright’s disease. The neighbors, knowing of his condition and the harvest to be done, volunteered assistance and in a few hours shucked 1,500 bushels of corn. There were forty-five men, with thirty-five teams and wagons. The wives came along bringing baskets of good things to eat, and at noon the workers set down to one of the greatest dinners that they ever had the privilege to attend.
