Looking Back

Chuck Hageman was honored during his retirement party for his 60 years of service to the Stockton Rotary Club. He also had the distinction of being the longest-serving member of the organization. The members saluting Hageman at the Carousel Bakery & Café were Greg Beougher, James Berkley, Darrell Sammons, Glenn Sears, Dale Winklepleck, Craig Iwanski, Mark Lowry, and Francis Mahoney.

The SHS Tiger Football team was ready to start the season with the annual sports scrimmage with Diego Gallaway, Josh Crain, Zach Lowry, Colton Hull, Cody Hrabe, Kyle Logan, Colby Miller, Jon Reed, Reece Struckhoff, Austin Wieden, Marlin Pulec, Eric Pfeifer, Jared Franklin, Tyler Peterson, Bryce Hull, Bryce Reichard, Ragen Struckhoff, Wyatt Chestnut, Austin Sanders, Chance Miller, Jesse Prockish, Jon Bellerive, Austin Smith, Connor Winters, Brady Page, and head coach Justin Basart and assistant coach Don Jenkins.

The SHS Cross Country team was to open their season at Norton. The roster included nine runners: Dustin Kriley, Chandler Nyp, Cody Deutscher, Koby Beougher, Nicholas Henry, MaryLynn Griebel, Rebeka Niblock, Hannah Lindsey, and Christina Bedore. Their coach, Adam Bedient, was looking forward to a great season.

Dale “Doc” Dean had turned 92. His children, Ginger Kollman, Greg Dean, and Pam Hageman, celebrated his birthday on August 15th.

Celebrities that judged the Fair’s Tailgate Party in the Pits were Ross Janssen with KWCH Storm Team 12, Department of Agriculture Secretary Chris Svaty, 2010 Miss Kansas Lauren Werhan, and Kansas State Fair Association General Manager Denny Stoeckline. In late June, Richard Schleicher had placed first in Kansas in Bull Riding at the National Rodeo in Gallup, NM. Besides being named Kansas’ National Little Britches Rodeo Association Bull Riding Champion, Richard also finished seventh in the world at the rodeo in Pueblo, Colorado.

Grace Turnbull was the August Solomon Valley Manor Neighbor of the Month.
