“Strategic Doing for the Arts”
Informal session set to help organize an Arts Council in Rooks County
Are you interested in bringing an “Arts Council” back to Stockton and Rooks County?
Before the pandemic, a a small group of people had started meeting to brainstorm ideas about reviving an Arts Council in Stockton. The initial planning sessions then included people from other towns in Rooks County, with interest in combining efforts and opportunities within the county.
“RoCo Arts Council” was just preparing to apply to the State of Kansas for a 501c3 status as a non-profit organization in March 2020. Then the pandemic hit. Social functions of any kind came to a halt, and so did the effort to formulate a new arts council. But we had some great ideas and were anxious to get to work on bringing entertainment and educational opportunities to enhance the quality of life in Rooks County!
Now, with life arriving at a “new normal” for social functions, we are ready to get back to the concepts that brought this small group together in the first place. We invite anyone interested in exploring the possibility and process of forming an official organization to join in on the “grass roots” action.
To assist in this exploration, Betty Johnson, with the “Strategic Doing” process that many people in Rooks County have been a part of, will be our guest to help with a “Strategic Doing for the Arts” session on Monday, May 24, at 7:00 p.m., in the conference room above the Health Department (north entrance). Anyone high school age on up is welcome and encouraged to attend!
Let’s get some fun, entertaining and educational opportunities going again in Stockton and Rooks County! If you’d like to help, or for more information, contact Nancy Becker (785.425.8710) or Roger Hrabe (785.203.0017).
