Stockton Peony Festival set for Sat., May 29th

Mark your calendars now for Stockton’s 2021 Peony Festival set for Saturday, May 29th. The peonies will be in full bloom, and the day has been filled with fun events for everyone to enjoy.
Plan to start off the day with the FREE Pancake Breakfast on South Walnut from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. sponsored by Farmers Union Elevator, Kiser Ag, Stockton Lions Club and In Touch With You Massage.
Next on the agenda for the day is the Peony Poker/Rock Walk sponsored by the Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce and Alta. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Chamber Office.
There will be Story Boards set up on Main Street sponsored by the Stockton Public Library. A story-themed Coloring Contest will be held prior to the event and is sponsored by Crafts from the Sunflower Shed.
A Vendor Fair has been scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with the vendors located throughout Main Street. Over twenty vendors will be on hand selling their wares, food or face painting, so plan on shopping for some craft items and grabbing some lunch!
The Cornhole Tournament will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Printer’s Park on South Walnut, so make sure to register your team early or register the of the event starting at 9:00 a.m. (Registration forms can be picked up now at the Stockton Sentinel or the Chamber Office.)
A Wheelbarrow & Container Gardening Program will be held at the USD Office building on Main Street at 10:00 a.m. K-State Research and Extension, Phillips-Rooks District Ag and 4-H Agent Rachael Boyle will be conducting the session.
Sigma Phi ESA will be in charge of the games, which will start at 10:30 a.m. and be held on North Walnut by the Rooks County Health Department. The games are sponsored in part by Sigma Phi ESA and Krob Trenching.
And if you don’t have a float in the Parade, find a shady spot on Main Street for the Peony Festival Parade, which will be held at 1:30 p.m. The parade is sponsored by the Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce with the sound system provided by the Stockton Rodders. The parade will start on Cypress and go down Main to Elm, then will turn south past the back side of the Solomon Valley Manor and ending on South Fourth street. During this time the winners of the Garden Lady Contest will be announced. (The Garden Ladies Contest will be held prior to the Peony Festival with entries due by Thursday, May 20th at the Chamber Office so judging can start on Monday, May 24th through Friday, May 28th.
The Sidewalk Chalk Art will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the 1-5 age group located on North Main and Walnut (west) Street sidewalk; 6-12 age group located on North Main and Walnut (east) sidewalk; and 13-18 age group located on South Main and Walnut (east) Street. The contest is sponsored in part by Solutions North Bank, Amber Muir, Coast to Coast Title Company, Inc., Muir Law, J-Mart, Stockton Lions Club and Solomon Valley Medicine.
