The RCH Auxiliary will host a community blood drive on Monday, August 3rd, at the Plainville Christian Church Fellowship Hall in memory of the first four physicians to serve Rooks County Health Center: Dr. Vale Page, Dr. A.M. Pederson, Dr. Harold Mauck, and Dr. William Votapka. Their dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to patient care laid the foundation for quality health care in Rooks County and the surrounding communities.

These remarkable physicians practiced family medicine at the original Plainville Rural Hospital, faithfully serving local families until their retirement. Their commitment extended far far beyond the walls of the hospital. Family members recall that they answered calls at all hours of the night, traveled through blizzards to reach patients, and willingly entered quarantined homes, risking exposure to con-tagious diseases so others in the community would remain safe. Their selfless service, kindness, and devotion left a lasting impact on countless lives.

The RCH Auxiliary is proud to honor the legacy of these founding physicians by continuing their spirit of service through this memorial blood drive. Blood donations are a gift that can save lives, and the need is constant. The Auxiliary invites residents of Rooks County, former patients, and friends from near and far to join in this meaningful tribute by donating blood.

The blood drive will be held on Monday, August 3rd, at the Plainville Christian Church Fellowship Hall. Appointments may be scheduled by calling 1-800-RED CROSS, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or contacting RCH Auxiliary Blood Drive Coordinator Carol Parker at 785-6237819.

Honor the memory of these dedicated physicians by giving the gift of life. Your donation is a lasting tribute to their legacy of compassion, service, and commitment to the health of our community.
