Memorial Day activities planned

The Monroe-Taylor-Barnes V.F.W. Post 8873 in Stockton encourages all veterans (members and non-members) and Auxiliary members to fall out on Memorial Day, May 31st. Veterans are to meet at the Post Home at 8:30 a.m. for services. Veterans, if you are unable to wear your uniform, please fall out in black slacks, white shirt, black tie, and service or V.F.W. cap.

Services will be at the Catholic Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.; Stockton Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.; and Mt. Vernon Cemetery at 10:45 a.m.

On a related note, a Memorial Day Service will be held at Ash Rock Church northeast of Woodston at 10:30 a.m or four miles north and one mile east of Woodston at 10:30 a.m., for this time-honored Memorial Service.

At the Stockton Cemetery, there will be the usual ceremony with rifles and Taps, and the impressive Avenue of Flags. There will be a potluck dinner at the Stockton V.F.W. Post following services. (See related ad for more information.)
