My Dream Pool

With summer fast approaching and mixing into it my love of watching the “Pool Kings” and “Insane Pools: Off The Deep End,” I love to dream about what my pool would look like if I had the space and the money!

First and foremost, it must have a Baja shelf, a large area for at least four loungers with bubblers as an added bonus. And it would have curved steps going down into the main pool.

My design for my pool would be a large rectangular shape, the same as what my Baja shelf would be, which would have its own space and not take up any pool area. I would want the depth of the pool to start at three feet and gradually be deep enough for a slide as well as a large grotto at the other end. No, I don’t want big boulders for my grotto and slide space, since I want everything to be square or rectangular with varying sizes and colors of brown and tan granite pavers everywhere! Smaller pavers would make up the steps for the slide that is a “must have” for my family and me. This would also be part of the grotto since I want it to be another large rectangular area with a flat top so people can jump into the iridescent blue pool from the top of it or go down the slide. I would have a black wrought iron railing with dolphin shapes as part of the design installed to keep everyone safe when they are walking up the stairs, and when they are up on top. Inside the grotto would be the perfect hideaway from the sun with a few places to lounge fit for a mermaid with water cascading over the entryway. This area would also disguise the building that would house all of the mechanical equipment, floaties, etc. for the pool.

My hot tub will be another large rectangle with multiple jets and would be located by the center of the pool with an infinity edge on one side so the water could trickle down into the pool. And the hot tub would be placed in such a way that if you are relaxing in it you will be able to see the big screen TV that would be part of my barbeque area under a cedar and wood tile gazebo. I want a bar area with seating for six people with honed black granite counters. Another area in the gazebo would house a barbeque grill, a small refrigerator as well as a large prep/serving space. Of course, there will be a large black ceiling fan. And somewhere in that area I would incorporate an outdoor shower and cabana for guests to change into their swimsuits. There would be speakers set up strategically for only my music to be played and night lights installed on the gazebo for evening swims.

Then to finish it off, the fire pit would be located to the right of the Baja shelf and would be my only deviation from my uniform, rectangular pool design since I would want a large, round gas stone pit filled with iridescent blue rock for those chilly nights and for toasting s’mores!

I say if you are going to dream, you might as well dream big! Here’s to jumping off the deep end!
