Hello October
* Dear Great Pumpkin, I am ready for you to arrive on Halloween night! Bring me lots of Snickers, please!
* Who remembers when McDonalds gave out GREAT Happy Meals that came in those plastic pumpkins, witches and black cats?
* Okay, you can tell us. How many caramel apples have you eaten already? Or for those who drink coffee….How many pumpkin spice lattes have you had?
* Is this for real? I saw where there is a limited edition of Hidden Valley CANDY CORN salad dressing. If this is true, it is not OK.
* If you can’t fly with the big girls, then stay off your broom or invest in a good vacuum cleaner!
* It was a fangtastic PUMPKIN PATCH this year! Here’s a big shout-out to everyone who helped make this event such a spooktacular event for our community!
* Yes, this is the month that all things pumpkin spice reign, but here is a recipe I am going to try called an apple cider donut cake. What’s not to like, right? One box yellow cake mix, three fourths of a cup of apple cider (NOT apple juice), one fourth of a cup of water or just omit water and use one cup of apple cider, one fourth teaspoon of cinnamon, half a cup of applesauce, three large eggs, one tablespoon brown sugar, and one teaspoon vanilla. Mix in a large bowl the dry cake mix, apple cider, applesauce, water and eggs. Then add in the cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla to the cake batter. Pour the mixture into a wellgreased AND floured bundt pan. Place pan on the center rack and bake for 45 minutes in a pre-heated 350-degree oven. If you want to make a glaze, add powdered sugar and a fourth of a cup of apple cider into a small bowl and whisk them together to get your desired consistency. Or in a separate bowl, mix together some cinnamon and sugar. Once the cake is cooled, brush the entire surface of the cake with melted butter. Let it soak in for a minute or two then rub the cinnamon sugar mixture until the cake is evenly coated. You can either use the glaze or the sugar mixture separately, or go for broke and do them both! Any way you make it, it’s going to be a sweet treat!
