Two bluegrass bands entertained a large crowd at the Nova Theatre on April 8, 2006. The Prairie Acre Bluegrass Band, featuring members Noah Musser, Tricia Spencer, Greg Yother and Virginia Musser, and Steam Powered Airplane, featuring Cody Walters, Stockton native Uriah Price, Jon DeGroot and Tucker Smith, played to a very appreciative crowd.

There was a very light showing of registered voters out for the April 4, 2006 general election, with only 22% of the City’s 1,021 registered voters turning out to vote. The seat on the city commission proved to be an upset as Reesa Brown, with 124 votes, unseating the incumbent Earl Richter, who received 103 votes.

Kaleb Mateo Inchaustegui received the honors of being the first baby to be born at Rooks County Health Center in 2006. He arrived March 17 to parents Susan and Shawn Inchaustegui of Webster. They were praying for the baby to come in perfect timing and for an easy delivery with no complications. Well, the baby was born on Saint Patrick’s Day, and they were back home with Kaleb before the snowstorm started.

At the Rooks County Spelling Bee, although Stockton didn’t claim the championship position, they were proud of the accomplishments of their 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th place showings. Sage Penner finished 2nd, Leslee Damrow was 3rd place, and Blake Armstrong and Molly Schleicher claimed the 4th and 5th place spots. Winning the champion spot was Cole Smith of Plainville.
