Richard served as Stockton’s City Manager from March 1983 to December 1989. It didn’t take long for the Nienstedts to begin enjoying some “retirement time.” Richard and Rita left Monday, April 3, to vacation in Hot Springs, Arkansas and Texarkana.

County holds a short morning meeting

The commissioners started their morning meeting on Tuesday, March 21st, with their weekly reports. Commissioner Kayla Hilbrink stated it had been a quiet week. She looked into when surrounding counties have their meetings, with most of them holding the sessions during the day. She is also processing concerns and checking into suggestions people voiced at the last meeting.

Spring turkey hunting season is here!

The Youth/Disabled spring turkey hunting season begins on Saturday, April 1st, and runs through Thursday, April 13th. Archery season starts on Tuesday, April 4th, and runs through Wednesday, April 12th. Anyone with a spring turkey permit or game tag may hunt during this season using a longbow, recurve bow, crossbow, or compound bow.

Courthouse Snippets

The site that the County Commissioners selected for the new courthouse was approved this week by the citizens of Stockton and a committee was selected to raise the money to pay for the new site. The committee has been at work this week on the raising of the money and have it nearly all raised.
