What Stocktonites Were Doing 98 Years Ago

Body Last Thursday night the store of the Damar Mercantile Company was again robbed. This time the thieves gained entrance by prying off the lock n the back door. The safe was broken into and about $40.00 in cash taken. No merchandise was molested, according to reports.

Body For the past three Thursdays, Stockton and the surrounding areas had been hit hard by dangerous storms. The home of Janet Chesney and son John Page at the corner of Ash and South Fifth streets was crushed in Thursday night’s storm by a huge tree that was thrown on top of it.

Body Willis Beckley had the misfortune to get his arm broken last Sunday. He, in the company with some other boys, was playing on top of a shed and as they went to jump down, he broke his arm at the elbow.

Body THE STONE LETTERING and decorative work had been removed from the front of the old Stockton High School, which was built in 1922. It had served as the middle school building for many years and was soon to be torn down during the summer of 1994 to make way for a new building.
