HAYS—Thomas More Prep-Marian Senior Emma Basgall of Hays was selected to dance at the Super Bowl halftime show. Basgall, 18, had sent in a video audition in January and, after a series of callbacks, was selected to be one of the dancers in the star-studded halftime show that featured Usher.

OSBORNE—The Kansas Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) proudly announced the selection of Kelly Armknecht of Smith Center Junior/Senior High School as FCA’s 2024 Coach of the Year.

SALINE COUNTY—On Tuesday, February 6th, a woman at a home in the 7200 Block of East Farrlley Road in Salina reported that a suspect stole more than $10,000.00 in various American currencies, according to Saline County Sheriff Rodger Soldan. The suspect escaped with $7,300.

HARVEY COUNTY—A Kansas woman died from injuries in an accident that occurred just before noon on Friday, January 26th, in Newton.

HAYS—Hays Police were called to Sip N Spin in Hays early Sunday morning, January 21st, at 1:50 a.m. A Hays resident was hospitalized with a serious head injury after an altercation outside the facility.

WALLACE COUNTY—Wallace County Game Warden Mike Hopper thanked members of the public who stepped up and contacted Operation Game Thief last month, according to a social media report from the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks Game Wardens.

SEDGWICK COUNTY—The Harlan Red-Tailed Hawk known as Harley Jr., used for educational programming that escaped his enclosure in early December, has been found but not captured yet. The Midwest Avian Foundation reported that they have eyes on Harley Jr.

LANE COUNTY—At 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 30th, sheriff's deputies and Fire and EMS were dispatched to an aircraft emergency in the area of 96 Highway and Jagger Road west of Dighton, according to a social media report from the Lane County Sheriff's Office.

COWLEY COUNTY—On Saturday, December 23rd, the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 17,000 Block of 121st Road for a vehicle in a field. When deputies contacted the registered owner, it was discovered the driver, 69-year-old Janet J.

THOMAS COUNTY—According to the Thomas County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, December 14th, sheriff’s deputies and state troopers responded to a report of a semi full of cattle that overturned on Interstate 70 just east of the K184 Brewster exit.
