Roy LeVern Acheson, 72, of Palco, passed away at his home on September 11, 2024.

Roy was born on January 13, 1952, in Quinter, Kansas, the fourth of five children to LeVern and Loree (Wilds) Acheson. He was raised on the family farm south of Palco.

A 1971 graduate of Palco High School, Roy was an active participant in FFA, rodeo, theater, and band. His passion for the arts led him to Anderson College in Anderson, Indiana, where he studied drama with the aspiration of becoming a music or drama teacher. However, Roy’s journey led him back to the family farm.

Joshua Vincent Hrabe passed away on September 12, 2024, at his home in Plainville, at the age of 38.

He was born on September 8, 1986, to Ronald and Raina (Mongeau) Hrabe in Plainville. He married Terri Kenney on September 17, 2011, in Plainville. They were blessed with three children: Jarron, Annabella, and Blake.

Glade resident Dee Mongeau passed away on Monday, September 9, 2024, at the Kearney Good Samaritan Hospital at the age of 67.

She was born October 28, 1956, the daughter of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Bredemeier) Brobst.

Dee was united in marriage to Bert Mongeau on January 30, 1988, in Phillipsburg. He survives.

Erma Jean Price, 92, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at her home on July 26, 2024.          

Jeanie, as she was known to many, was born October 1, 1931, to Verne and Myra (McColl) Melton in Woodston, Kansas. After graduating from Woodston High School in 1949, Jeanie studied at Brown-Mackie College in Salina, Kansas.

Joyce Elaine Fiskin, 85, of Fairway, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at  Anthology of Olathe, Kansas under the care of Crossroads Hospice.

She was born in Norton, Kansas on March 27, 1939. She graduated from high school in Stockton, Kansas.

She and her husband lived in Manhattan, Kansas, Baltimore, Maryland, the Netherlands, and Kansas City.

She was retired after working in hospital medical records departments. She was a kind and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Sheryl Kay Gaines, 60, of Clay Center, passed away on August 26, 2024, at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

She was born on October 5, 1963, in Plainville, Kansas, to Max Keith and Melva Lorraine (Smith) Gaines.

Sheryl lived with her parents and siblings (sister Sharon Rae and brothers Jerold Max and Ronald Leroy) on the farm 15 miles northwest of Stockton, Kansas, in the Mt. Pleasant community.  She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant 4-H Club and attended Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, where she gave her heart to Jesus at a young age.

She was born July 20, 1928, in Stockton, Kansas to Edward C. VI and Jesse Rae Maris Hageman.

Todd J. Van Schuyver passed away on August 25, 2024, at his home in Plainville, at the age of 46.

He was born to Anna Gravatt in Salina on January 12, 1978. He was adopted by David and Mary (Staab) Van Schuyver.

Todd grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School in 1997. He was currently working at Wilkens Manufacturing and had previously worked at Schulte Homes and Classic Cloth. He played Special Olympics Basketball with the Solomon Valley Larks and Hays Buffaloes. He was a member of Plainville Knights of Columbus and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
