TJ Slansky, age 50, of Portland, Oregon passed away in his home on May 16, 2021.
TJ was born in Plainville, Kansas on June 23, 1970 to Roy and Eloise Slansky.
He attended Stockton High School in Stockton, Kansas where he excelled in football, wrestling, and track as a state champion. TJ went to the University of Nebraska – Lincoln where he played football for his much-loved Huskers.
TJ was a football coach at Idaho State, Fort Hayes State, Brownsville, Texas, Valley Center, Kansas, and Liberty, Missouri. TJ taught middle school and high school social studies and history in Missouri.
TJ was a Fulbright Scholar and studied in Athens, Greece. He enjoyed many traveling adventures with his family and friends, creating the best basements for watching football games, training for and competing in Iron Man Triathlons, imparting his words of wisdom and humorous stories, creating amazing meals, and singing along to his favorite songs.
TJ and Jennifer started their business, City Wide Facility Solutions, in 2014. TJ was especially proud of the business and legacy he created with Jennifer, his daughters, former students and athletes, and life-long friendships.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; two daughters, Addison and Molly Hayes; son-in-law, Skylar; and granddaughter, Ivy; Terle and Kristi Slansky (brother and sister-in-law), Tim Slansky (brother); and nephews, and a niece.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Eloise.
Celebration of Life services will be held at Holy Family Catholic School in Portland, Oregon on June 19, 2021, and at Liberty High School on August 14, 2021 in Liberty, Missouri. Further details and memorial donation information to follow.
