Thomas "Tom" Menzies

Thomas "Tom" Menzies, age 78, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on January 17, 2025, at his vacation home in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

He was born on October 6, 1946, to John and Louise Menzies. Tom dedicated much of his life to his country in the United States Air Force, both in active duty and civil service. Tom was honorably discharged from active duty in 1972 as Master Sergeant. 
Tom was joined in marriage with his late wife, Cheryle Menzies, on November 21, 1971. Their union was blessed with three children. 

On April 6, 1991, Tom was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal. After retiring from civil service on December 29, 1994, Tom worked as a loan officer for Richards Gebaur Credit Union. In 2016, he retired as President and CEO. 

In life, Tom always served in service to his faith and his church. He was also an avid fisherman and KU fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise Menzies; father and mother-in-law, Bernard and Dorothy Carsten; brother-in-law, Terry Carsten; and loving wife of over fifty years, Cheryle Ann Menzies. 

Survivors include his son, Todd J. Menzies (wife Tara) and their children Iain Cole Menzies and Lily Nicole Menzies; daughter, Angela M. Forsythe (husband Robb Forsythe) and their children, Samantha Jewel Menzies, Brayden Thomas Menzies, Abigail Louise Forsythe, and Andre Forsythe; son, Travis John Menzies (wife Jennifer) and their children, Audrey Grace Menzies and Lucy Elizabeth Menzies; brother and sisters Daniel and RoseMary; brother- and sisters-in-law, Rodney and Janic Carsten and Deb Carsten; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A memorial service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Southview Christian Church in Grandview, Missouri.
