Patrick Joseph “Pat” Schmidt

Patrick Joseph “Pat” Schmidt, 75, of Alta Vista, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023.

He was born March 20, 1947, in Plainville, the son of Fidelis and Albina (Hammerschmidt) Schmidt.

Pat graduated from Plainville High School in 1965. On September 3, 1966, he was united in marriage to Linda J. Clodfelter, the daughter of Lutie and Betty Clodfelter of Plainville.

Pat owned a family-operated business, Tri-City Carpets of Manhattan, for three decades, retiring in 2008. He worked with many community builders and developers, gaining a great working and personal relationship with the people of Manhattan and the surrounding communities.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Schmidt, Alta Vista; sons, Tracy (Hillary) Schmidt of Manhattan and Todd (Michelle) Schmidt of Allenhurst, Ga; grandchildren, William Schmidt, Katie (Aaron) Plue, Kyler Schmidt, Kiefer Schmidt, Josh Thomas, and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Gerald Schmidt, Raymore, Mo., and Eugene Schmidt, Great Bend; twin sister, Patricia Roy, Stockton; sisters, Kathy Holmes, Manhattan, and Jackie Morgan, Okeechobee Beach, Fla.; brother- and sister-in-law, Mike and Kathy Clodfelter and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Honoring Pat’s request, cremation is planned. No services have been scheduled at this time. A Celebration of Pat’s Life will occur on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Blue Hills Room, 2315 Tuttle Creek Blvd., Manhattan, KS 66502.
