Michael Allen Jr.
April 17, 1963 - February 28, 2023
Michael Allen Jr., age 59, of Platteville, Colo., passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2023, from a chronic lung infection. Mike transitioned to heaven peacefully with family members by his side.
Mike was born April 17, 1963, while his father was stationed at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire and moved around the United States with his Air Force family during his early and middle childhood years. He spent his teenage years in Windsor, Mo., then settled in Denver, Colo., for most of his adult life.
Mike was a gentle soul who loved his family, KC Chiefs football, and was happiest outdoors in the Colorado mountains snowboarding, fishing, panning for gold, and enjoying nature. He was a devoted partner to Kristy Roe for 15 years and adored her company. Mike worked in the lumber industry in the Greater Denver Metropolitan area for 30 years and was highly respected in his career community.
Mike was continuously grateful for the simple things in life and shared those sentiments with the people closest to him. As an animal lover, he spoke fondly of his canine companions he bonded with over the years. He frequently talked of his time on the “farm” in rural Windsor and was grateful for the countless fun memories with his four siblings. Favorite activities included skating on the ponds in winter, camping in the coal pits by the creek, and orchestrating mischievous antics with the other Allen 4.
He believed in making the world better by working hard and contributing to the greater good. He was extremely proud of his nephews and nieces frequently inquiring about all of their activities and life events/accomplishments.
He is preceded in death by his angel mother in heaven, Consuelo Maria Allen.
He leaves behind his father Michael Allen Sr.; adoptive mother Kathleen Allen; brother Geoff Allen; sisters Michelle Uptegrove, Gina Savage, and Mandy Allen; along with three nephews and two nieces.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 23, 2023, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Windsor, Mo., with Father Jim Taranto officiating. A Celebration of Life is also planned for Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Denver.
The family suggests contributions in Michael’s name to the American Lung Association, 8400 W 110th St #130, Overland Park, Kansas 66210 or Longmont Humane Society, 9595 Nelson Rd, Longmont, CO 80501. Contributions may also be left in care of the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor.
