Metta “Nadine” (Jones) Bair passed away on April 5, 2022, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kansas at the age of 90.

She was born on September 26, 1931, to James and Ione (Yohe) Jones in Plainville. She was united in marriage to George Bair on December 28, 1950, at the First Christian Church in Plainville. The couple was blessed with four daughters: Linda, Connie, Diane, and Gerri.

Nadine grew up in Plainville where she attended Plainville High School and graduated with the class of 1949 as Salutatorian of her class. She worked several jobs throughout her life but started with AL Burkholder doing income taxes. When her husband George passed away, she maintained her tax job out of the home but went to work for KN Energy which later became Midwest Energy. Nadine retired but stayed involved with her work as the First Christian Church treasurer and volunteering at the Rooks County Hospital Gift Shop and held the treasurer position for the RCH Auxiliary.

She loved planting and working her garden, canning and making homemade salsas and jelly. Nadine’s free time was spent crocheting last name doilies, baby blankets, afghans and tablecloths.

She is survived by her daughters: Linda (Bob) Rogers of Burlington, Colo., Connie (Allen) Rempe of Plainville, and Gerri (Danny) Meitler of Plainville; siblings: Eileen Lane of McHenry, Ill., and Kenneth Jones of Brush, Colo.; son-in-law, Lynn Nutsch of Enid, Okla.; eight grandchildren: Michael, Jody, Angie, Aaron, Ryan, Danielle, Tiffany, and Kristen; and eleven great-grandchildren with one on the way: Gavin, Grady, Garrett, Jack, Jaxon, John Paul, Eldon, Ela, Kate, Lydia, and Tonya.

She joins in her heavenly home, her parents, James and Ione Jones; daughter, Diane Nutsch; and siblings, Thelda (John) Schafer, Elmer (Marjorie) Jones, James (Marjorie) Jones, John V. Jones, and Russell Jones; sister-in-law, Dorothy Jones; and brother-in-law George Lane.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Plainville at 2 p.m. Visitation will be on Friday at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. with family receiving friends from 5  p.m. until 7 p.m.
