Linda Sue Martin

Linda Sue Martin, age 66, passed away on January 16, 2023, at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas.

She was born on November 9, 1956, in Plainville, Kansas, to Darrell and Shirley (Campbell) Hays. On June 7, 1986, she married Phillip Martin at St. Fidelis Church in Victoria, Kansas. He survives.

A Great Bend resident for 36 years, Linda worked as a speech pathologist for USD 428 and Barton County Special Services, prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish attending St. Rose, Daughters of Isabella, and the Kansas Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her husband of the home; a son, Jacob Martin of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Holly Bowyer of Ellinwood; three grandchildren; a brother, Terry Hays, of Natoma; and two sisters, Marsha Erickson of Wellington and Stephanie Massier of Palco.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Darrell 'Hank' Hays Jr.; and a sister, Sheri Hays.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. A private family internment will take place at a later time.
