He was born on June 14, 1965, in Saigon, Vietnam, to Nguyen Thi Ngot. In 1989, Hong came to the United States, first settling in Houston, then Dallas, before moving to Garden City, and eventually making his home in Hays.

On March 14, 1998, Hong married Truong My Phuong “Sarah” at the Ellis County Courthouse. They shared many years together in Hays, where they raised their family.

Hong was a dedicated and hardworking man. He worked for 30 years at the Enersys Battery Plant and was also employed at Pan Handle Steel in Garden City. Outside of work, he enjoyed spending time watching television, working on cars, and using his skills as a talented mechanic. Above all, he loved his family deeply.

Hong is survived by his wife, Sarah Nguyen, of the home in Hays; children, Adam and Amy Nguyen of Hays; father-in-law, David Toelkes of Plainville; and sisters, Nhuny Thi Tuyet Tran of Houston, Texas, and Nhat Thi Kim Tran of Auckland, New Zealand.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Nguyen Thi Ngot.

A private family service will be held.
