Gary Lee Dix

Gary Lee Dix of Alton passed away on May 10, 2022 at the age of 76.

He was born in Stockton, Kan. on March 2, 1946 to Ivan and Marie Dix of Alton, Kan. Gary married Joyce Anderson on April 23, 1982. They spent their life together in the Alton community, where Gary grew up and lived all of his life.

As a child he was active in 4-H, and was an FFA member throughout his school years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. As a member of the Alton United Methodist Church he had helped with the Fall Auction several times and the selling of the quilts that the ladies of the church made each year.

Gary’s life was his family, farming and cattle. He was always willing to jump in and help any of his family and neighbors when they needed him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce; his dad, Ivan; and mom, Marie; as well as two stepdaughters, Pamela Schumacher and Patty Palmer.

He is survived by his sister Linda (Donnie) Burke; stepdaughter Penny (Daryl) Paclik; stepson Chris (Sheila) Anderson; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, who all called him Grampa Gray; and a "huge" host of other family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alton, with burial to follow in the cemetery north of Alton.

Memorial are suggested to the Alton United Methodist Church.
