Erma Jean Price, 92, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at her home on July 26, 2024.
Jeanie, as she was known to many, was born October 1, 1931, to Verne and Myra (McColl) Melton in Woodston, Kansas. After graduating from Woodston High School in 1949, Jeanie studied at Brown-Mackie College in Salina, Kansas.
She married Frank Price on October 22, 1950. They went on to have three children: Ronal of Miami, Florida, Karen Giffin of Springfield, Missouri, and Vicki Holloway of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Over the course of their 56 years of marriage, they made homes in Pampa, Texas, Stockton and Waverly, Kansas, and Springfield, Missouri, where they retired.
Over the years, Jeanie was employed in various positions in banks, for two attorneys, and as a secretary and a bookkeeper. She especially enjoyed her time as the secretary for the Rooks County Extension Office in Stockton. Jeanie enjoyed reading, crewel embroidery, canning, flower gardening, and time with her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings, and one grandson.
She is survived by many family members.
Jeanie was cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 South Southwood Road, Springfield, MO 65804. A family gathering will be held following the service.
The family requests that donations be made to the Missouri Veterans Cemetery located in Springfield. Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
