Dolores “Lorrie” Dunning

Dolores “Lorrie” Dunning, 88, Atchison, passed on November 10, 2024, at Amberwell Atchison.

Lorrie was born December 17, 1935, in Hays, Kansas, to parents Alex Gerstner and Emma Schutz Gerstner.

She graduated from Girls Catholic High School in Hays, Kansas, in 1954. She later enrolled in classes at UCLA in California. She worked in administrative office positions at Montgomery Wards, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Colorado, and Cengas Energy in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was a tireless and dedicated partner with her husband, Roger, in support of many customer conventions in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Lorrie married her soul mate, Roger Dunning, in 1954 in Pensacola, Florida. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend to everyone she met. Her dreams and spirit will live on in those who survive her: her loving husband, Roger; sons Bruce in Nashville, Tenn., and David in New York City, N.Y.; a sister, Rosemary of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren Stephanie and Alex; and many dear and loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The 8:15 a.m. Mass on December 17, 2024, will be for the repose of the soul of Lorrie at St. Benedict Church. The inurnment will be in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.
