Betsy "Betty" Jane Sell Cunningham
1935 - 2021
Betsy “Betty” Jane (Sell) Cunningham, age 85, entered into her eternal home on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021.
Betty was born October 8, 1935, to Ray and Ester (Reed) Sell. She was the only daughter of six children. On October 11, 1963, she wed the love of her life, Harold F. Cunningham, at the Rooks County Courthouse. They were married 45 years. Betty was a member of three churches: Main Street Christian Church in Stockton, and the Baptist Church in Hays, and Rio Rancho, N.M. She had a very strong relationship with the Lord. Her favorite Bible verse was Psalm 23.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Harold F. Cunningham; brothers: Kenneth Sell, John Sell, and Keith Sell.
Betty is survived by brothers, Ed Sell of Aumsville, Ore., and Wayne E. Sell of Colorado Springs, Colo. Harold and Betty raised two children Leslie Cunningham, of Stockton, and Nancy (Cunningham) Scollon, of Rio Rancho, N.M.; three grandchildren: Latisha (Cunningham) Leach, Lance Cunningham, and Kalina Scollon; two great-grandchildren: Kayleigh Cunningham and Patreice Williams; two great-great-grandchildren, Harmony Brent and Christian Brent.
Betty graduated from Stockton High School in 1953 and was a housewife for many years. She later taught sign language and interpreted for the deaf and was employed by Bohten Action House for 10 years and Old American Insurance for 20 years.
Betty was an active member of The Order Of Eastern Star. She was a Fair supervisor at Rooks County Free Fair for quilts, crafts, and sewing for many years and judged at different fairs around Kansas. She was a member of her church's quilt group, making quilts and donating them to different organizations.
Betty was a very artistic and creative woman who enjoyed, crocheting, knitting, quilting, jewelry, cake and pie baking, and most of all, time with her family and friends.
