Positive COVID-19 numbers rising in Rooks County

The total number of positive COVID-19 cases in Rooks County since March now stands at 118, as of Monday, October 5th. There was a considerable jump in numbers during the past two weeks from 55 documented on Friday, September 18th to 99 on Wednesday, September 30th. Also, it wasn’t until the last part of September that any deaths were reported in Rooks County. There are now seven deaths attributed to the virus. It is also noted that the hardest hit from the virus are the elderly, with several cases recently reported at Redbud Village in Plainville.

Alvin Joseph Schrandt

Alvin Joseph Schrandt passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2020 in his home in Plainville at the age of 91, surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 11, 1929, to William and Catherine (Adam) Schrandt in Plainville. He was united in marriage to Betty (Camerer) Schrandt on May 5, 1956 at the Sacred Heart Church in Plainville. They were blessed with a daughter, Regina, and later fostered ten other children.
