James "Jim" Maley, age 70, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023, at his home in Phillipsburg.

He was born November 26, 1952, in Norton, one of eight children born to Willard and Veda (Boland) Maley in Norton.

He attended grade school in Edmond, Kansas, and high school in Lenora, Kansas, where he graduated in 1971. He attended vo-tech in Goodland, Kansas, where he earned his automotive technician certification. Upon graduation, he accepted a mechanics position with Matteson Motors in Phillipsburg on April 16th, 1973, where he remained employed for over 45 years.

Jolene Ann Leiker, 57, Hays, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at HaysMed.

She was born May 31, 1965, in Hays, the youngest of five children of Edwin Francis and Shirley (Cole) Weigel.

Jolene graduated from Plainville High School in 1983 and attended Fort Hays State University, earning a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Special Education.

Declan (four years old) is happy to announce the birth of his sister, Madalyn AnnMarie James, of Farmersville, Texas. She was born February 26, 2023, in McKinney, Texas. She weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and was 20 1/4 inches long. Proud parents are Dustin and Heather James. Grandparents are Scot and Denise Murchie of Stockton and Dave and Charlsie James of Iowa Park, Texas. Shirley Reed of Stockton is her great-grandmother.
