School board receives updates from superintendent and principals at meeting

The summer program math students were first on the agenda at the regular Stockton USD 271 Board of Education

meeting on Tuesday, October 9th. After they recited the Pledge of Allegiance, they told the board members what they

liked about the program.

 

The board members then approved the Consent Agenda before superintendent Sarah Armstrong gave an update on

the NARCAM policy.

At that time of year, Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) payments will be hitting farmer’s

accounts. It might surprise many farmers that some counties will get the maximum ARC-CO paymentrates this year in

commodities that experienced significant yield loss due to drought. This payment is for the crop harvested in 2022,  here

the marketing year concluded on May 31, 2023, for wheat and August 31, 2023, for corn, grain sorghum, and soybeans.

Christian band’s semi-truck stolen in Topeka while on its 20th-anniversary tour

TOPEKA—The Topeka Police Department answered a call to help recover a semi-truck around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, October 6th. The truck belonged to the Christian band Casting Crowns, playing at the Topeka Performing Arts Center that evening. Sergeant Joshua Klamm said the TPD found the vehicle on I-70 around 11:00 p.m., where they arrested a 39-year-old woman in connection with the alleged theft. The semi suffered some minor damage during the incident.

Hoeting places second in the NPL Cross Country Meet

Body

Sophomore Cheyenne Hoeting made her presence known at the Northern Plains League Cross Country Meet held last Thursday in Downs. Hoeting placed second in the varsity girls’ race, and finished 17th in the Lakeside Meet which was held in conjunction with the NPL event.

Mia Odle, a Tiger freshman, also had a good day, finishing 15th in the NPL Meet.
