Glenn E. Crawford
1940 - 2022
Glenn E. Crawford, age 82, of Natoma, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays.
He was born Nov. 26, 1940, on the family farm in Osborne County. He was the son of Lloyd and Lucy (Robertson) Crawford. He grew up on a farm northeast of Natoma and graduated from Natoma High School in 1958.
Glenn was united in marriage to Jean Marie Polcyn on September 10, 1966, in Russell. They made their home in Natoma for a few years before moving out to Glenn’s family farm. This union was blessed with five daughters: Karen, Lorie, Linda, Deb and Donna.
Glenn was a farmer and livestock producer all his life. When he was younger, he did work in the oilfields for a while.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Plainville.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, playing cards, watching sporting events of his children and grandchildren, playing the guitar with the “Old Timers” group, and taking care of his cattle.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean of the home; daughters, Karen Leiker (Keith) of Victoria, Lorie Griffin (Tim) of Plainville, Linda Niermeier (Chad) of Colby, Deb Alexander (Ron) of Natoma, and Donna Bixenman (Dave) of Winona, Kan.; brother, Gerald Crawford of Milwaukee, Wisc.; sisters, Lucille Luhman of Natoma, Elaine Spencer (Gilbert) of Natoma, and Judy Gilworth of Independence, Mo.; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandson; brother-in-law, Richard Polcyn of Russell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter; son-in-law Shawn Sammons; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Luhman and Lloyd Gilworth.
Celebration of the Funeral Mass was held Saturday, December 31, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Plainville. Burial followed at the Natoma City Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Woods Program at Natoma High School or St. Jude’s Children's Hospital. Contributions and condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
