Kyle Hull, Stockton’s new high school business teacher

Kyle Hull needs no introduction to the Stockton community since he not only grew up near Woodston, but also graduated from Stockton High School in 2017. And as most everyone who knows him, knows he is the biggest Kansas City Chiefs fan you will ever meet!

But what people might not know is that Hull graduated from Fort Hays State University with a bachelor’s degree in Sports Management in May of 2021. He is also working on his master’s degree in Sports Administration, and will receive that degree in the spring of 2023.

While he was in college, Hull worked with FHSU Athletics as a graduate assistant. He interned from 2019-2020, and was a graduate assistant from August 2021 to May 2022.

This school year, Hull will be teaching high school Business with an Intro to Business to the eighth grade students. He will also be taking on the roll of co-athletic director with teacher Clint Bedore. Hull stated, “I am very

Hull stated, “I am very excited to begin my teaching and AD career this early into my journey. I hope my passion for education and love for athletics will be contagious to the student body.”

As you may have guessed, Hull’s favorite classes when he was in school were Physical Education, Health and Computer class. And when asked the question of who is favorite teacher was, he stated there are too many to count.

Hull stated that his family is full of educators and he tends to think this career is where he belongs since he has been around it so much. Of course, the first person in his family that comes to mind is his mom, Tricia Hemphill. And of course his grandpa, Loren Hemphill was a teacher, coach and Athletic Director for many years. Hull said he always loved listening to his grandpa’s stories throughout those years, and he witnessed the positive impact he had while teaching, coaching and overseeing athletic director duties.

Hull made the comment, “When my career is over, I hope I leave a positive impact on countless students, just as my grandpa has. When I decided to pursue a degree in Sports Management with goals to be a teacher and AD, I believe my grandpa Loren is who inspired me to do so. I am excited to continue my family’s passion for education and athletics.”

Hull is engaged to Aubry Appelhans with the two planning a wedding in September of 2023. Appelhans is now working on her nursing degree at Fort Hays State University and will graduate in May of 2023.

When Hull finds the time, he enjoys watching and playing sports, fishing, walking, reading and camping. And he loves to watch the TV shows ,“The Office,” and “Stranger Things.”

Hull is ready for this new chapter in his life to begin and is excited to start it in the school and community he grew up in. He stated about the school, administration and town, “Growing up in Rooks County and graduating from Stockton, I always love coming home where we all know each other well. They always have my back, and I will always have theirs.”
