Doris Joan “Jo” Pruitt, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2022, with family by her side. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Doris was born on December 24, 1929, in Phillips County to Warren Lemuel and Nora Helen (Chance) VanEaton. She enjoyed time spent with two big brothers, and later, a younger sister.

Survivors include two daughters: Jolene Deisher of Woodward, Okla., Melanie Pruitt-Tillberg (Michael) of Salina; a sister, Carmen Rice of Kensington; and many nieces and nephews.

Doris loved the name of Grandma and was thrilled to be a grandma to five: Jennifer, Tammy, Ben, Abe, and Chase.

She was so proud to be a great-grandma to seven: Jeremy, Jentry, Lauren, Landon, Seth, Wyatt, and Hunter.

Doris felt especially blessed to be a great-great-grandma to four: Emma, Ben, Aubrey, and Syrus.

Doris is a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to cook for her family, play cards, and she made many treasured patchwork blankets for her family and friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Rollo Wayne “R.W.” Pruitt; her son, Charles “Chuck” Pruitt; son-in-law, Doug Deisher; and brothers, Merton VanEaton and Burton “Herb” VanEaton.

The family requests that memorials be made to Service Dogs for Wounded Warriors, Salina Animal Services, and Hospice of Salina.

Funeral services for Doris will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2022, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 255 South 7th St., Salina. Burial will be in the Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.

Friends may call at Ryan Mortuary on Sunday, February 27, 2022, from 4 until 8 p.m., the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
