This And That

* “Hang on, Sloopy!” Sad news with the announcement of the passing of Rick Derringer, singer and guitarist of The McCoys, who gifted this classic song to us in 1965. He was 17 when the band recorded this timeless hit.

* Make these S’mores bites for your next picnic! Pulse graham crackers in a food processor or pound them down in a plastic bag, Melt your favorite chocolate in a glass bowl, Now, dip large marshmallows, which you have inserted with a small wooden dowel or large toothpick, into the melted chocolate and then in the crushed graham crackers. Let them set up and enjoy!

* Love this quote….You keep telling God about how big your problem is, but have you told the problem how big your God is?

* Yes, my clothes are still in the dryer, the dishes are always in the sink, and my bed isn’t made, but have you seen my hollyhocks?

* Whenever I start to miss Halloween and the fall season a little too much, I carve some spooky eyes into my watermelon.

* And just a reminder, now is the time to plant your pumpkins for Halloween!

* Can you agree with this statement? My addiction to buying things that I don’t need started at the Scholastic Book Fair. (I LOVED the Fair and still have the books I bought there. My favorite is “King of the Wind” by Marguerite Henry, the story about Sham, an Arabian stallion, who later became known as the Godolphin Arabian, the key ancestor to modern thoroughbreds.)

* And here is another one for you guys….My ducks are absolutely not in a row. I don’t even know where some of them are, and I’m pretty sure one of them is a pigeon. * I like this one too….. People who wonder whether the glass is half empty or half full are missing the point because the glass is refillable. * Whose parents told you you can’t take a shower during a thunderstorm or you’ll get struck by lightning and die? * How about this one? Remember when we used to laugh at the commercial “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up?” It’s not so funny anymore, is it?

* I am for this one….There should be a website where you can post your wishes, and rich people who don’t know what to do with their money can give you an anonymous gift.

* And I will close my editorial with this one….Old age is a thing—last night, I was in bed for 20 minutes when I heard the pizza guy cough. Then I remembered that I had come into my room for my wallet.
