* Thirteen Boy Scouts were at Camp Brown near Abilene for a week of swimming, canoeing and archery. Attending the camp were Dick Perry, Frank Slansky, Johnny Eades, Greg Mahoney, Gary Scott, Jerry Harding, Paul Ballinger, Donald Byerly, Doug Cunningham, Don Jenkins, Johnny Hageman, Alvin Goza and Bill Schmitz.

* Virgil Olson had been officially named the District Governor of the 17NW of Lions International at the convention in Los Angeles, Calif.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bouchey were planning to celebrate their Golden Wedding anniversary in Zurich on July 22nd. Floodwaters had done a lot of damage in the area as a result of from three to five inches of rain. Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Reichard had received word that their son, Billy, had been injured in Korea.

* On sale at Boyd & Conn Supermarket were ten pounds of potatoes for $1.00, three loaves of bread for 39¢, a quart jar of Zestee salad dressing for 39¢ and center cut pork chops for 69¢ a pound.

* Mr. and Mrs. Warren Chesney had announced the engagement of their daughter, Connie Marie to Steven Melton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Melton.

* Doris Conyac had closed the Doris Beauty Shop for a week so she could go on vacation.

* Dr. and Mrs. E. P. Mason announced the engagement of their daughter, Janet, to Mr. Danny L. Dix, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Dix of Stockton.

* Mr. and Mrs. Russell Casad, long-time residents of the Stockton area, were set to celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary on July 25th.

* Mr. and Mrs. Reid Baxter had hosted a birthday party for their son, Rudy. Present for the event where homemade ice cream and cake was served were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Blauer, Mr. and Mrs. Ria Grover, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Baxter, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Baxter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lindsey and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Ewing Crow.

* Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Hamilton, Barry Hamilton and Bobby Saunders had driven to Nebraska to visit Pioneer Village at Minden, and the Harlan Reservoir at Republican City.
