Lots of fun and merriment is scheduled for “Christmas in Alton” next Saturday, December 7th.

The 23rd annual Chocolate Festival, with a baking contest at the Front Porch, will kick off the festivities. Find out the baking contest rules at altonks.com or Facebook.com/altonkspride.

There will be $300.00 in total cash payouts, so get to baking your favorite chocolate desserts and candies! There are two categories for adults and two categories for youth 17 and under. The sponsors of the event are Next-Tech Wireless, Osborne County Community Foundation, the City of Alton, and Alton PRIDE.

Then, the rest of the activities begin with a Ugly Sweater Contest, with the judging set at 4:00 p.m. The American Legion Soup Supper will be at Hardman Hall from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a suggested donation of $7.00 per person.

Christmas Carols will be at Town Center at 6:00 p.m., followed by the Christmas Lighting Ceremony and Santa’s arrival at the Alton Firehouse at 6:15 p.m. There will be photo ops with Santa, and the City of Alton and PRIDE drawings. The Christmas Lights will be on display for viewing throughout the season, starting on December 8th and running through January 5th, 2025.

Also, the Craft Basket will be open during the ceremonies. There will be a special mailbox for kids to mail their Letters to Santa at the North Pole!

Festival events include the baking contest, Bingo, drawings, a bake sale, a bake walk, and more!

Complimentary hot chocolate and coffee will be served.
