Edna M. (Dibble) Taylor-McCall
1925 - 2024
Edna M. (Dibble) Taylor-McCall, formerly of Woodston, passed away on November 22, 2024, at HaysMed in Hays at the age of 99.
She was born on September 24, 1925, to Arthur Neil and Euphamie (Brittain) Dibble in a stone house west of Alton on the 1871 homestead of her grandparents, George Riley and Amanda Melvina (Arnold) Dibble. She was the last surviving child and number ten of eleven children born to Arthur and Euphamie.
Edna graduated from Woodston High School in 1942 with a class of 17 students. After her father's passing in 1945, she lived with her mother until her mother died in 1958. On November 19, 1962, Edna married William (Bill) Taylor, and they had one daughter, Stephannie Renee. Edna and Bill enjoyed a life full of love, and though he passed away on May 21, 1993, their memories and the life they built together remained in Edna's heart.
On September 3, 2000, Edna found love again when she married Robert F. McCall. They shared 22 happy years before Robert's passing on January 4, 2023. The greatest joy they experienced together was the birth of their granddaughter, Taylor. Edna and Bob often spoke with delight about their visits to see their granddaughter and the stories they would share afterward.
Edna worked at the Woodston Post Office after attending Fort Hays State College and was appointed acting Postmaster in May 1960. She enjoyed a career that spanned 49 years.
Edna always held a special place in her heart for her family and she was especially devoted to her granddaughter and 28 nieces and nephews, 13 of whom have preceded her in death. She also held a special place for the Dibble family reunions, attending nearly every one of them, including this past September where she celebrated her 99th birthday. Surrounded by loved ones, she shared stories and memories that delighted all who were present.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Travis) Taylor-Sullivan of Emporia, KS; granddaughter, Taylor (Noah) Dalrymple of Emporia; and 15 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Bill and Bob, and six brothers and four sisters.
When we die, we leave behind the stories we have told, the memories we have shared, and the lives we have touched. Edna did this wonderfully. Let us celebrate her life and cherish all the beautiful memories she gifted us.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 2 p.m., with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home in Stockton, KS. Burial will follow the service in the Survey Cemetery, 5 miles south of Woodson.
Memorials are suggested to Woodston Rural Fire Dept. or Survey Cemetery and may be sent to Plumer-Overlease Funeral Home, 723 N. 1st, Stockton, KS 67669.
