A Heavenly Oops: The Case of the Vanishing Church Columns

At the Sentinel-Times, we pride ourselves on making sure every story—and every sermon— finds its proper place. Faithfully, week after week, we tuck those all-important church columns to the side of our pages, with a polite little note: “Continued on page…” so you can follow every inspiring word from Sacred Heart, First Christian, First Southern Baptist, and United Methodist Church.

But this week, dear readers, we must confess: we suffered a holy hiccup. Somewhere between the hustle of deadlines, this paginator forgot to actually continue the church columns anywhere! That’s right—after you finished reading the first page, the only thing to follow was confusion (and perhaps a prayer for patience).

We imagine the abrupt endings left you pondering: * Did the Sacred Heart homily conclude with a plot twist?

* Was the First Christian sermon raptured away mid-sentence?

* Did First Southern Baptist’s message get lost on the Road to Damascus?

* And the United Methodists’ update? Still wandering in the wilderness!

To the faithful congregations and pastors of Sacred Heart, First Christian, First Southern Baptist, and United Methodist Church: we sincerely apologize for our editorial sleight-of-hand. Your wisdom deserves better than an unplanned cliffhanger.

Rest assured, we’re already repenting and will do our best to make sure all church columns make it to the Promised Land (or at least the right page) in the weeks to come. Until then, if you find yourself missing the ending, just know we’re probably still looking for it too!

Blessings—and apologies— from the Sentinel- Times staff.
