Larry Lee McNames

Larry Lee McNames, 80, passed away on July 28, 2024, in Plainville.

He was born on November 2, 1943, in Montrose, Colo.

Larry was four years old when he was adopted by Harry and Regina (Beanblossom) McNames in Julesburg, Colo., in the summer of 1948.

Larry was raised in Julesburg and graduated from Julesburg High School in 1962. After high school, Larry joined the Air Force and married Sandra Wood in 1966. The couple attended Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo., and after college, both worked in geology and taught high school. Larry loved to collect rocks, read, and, most of all, spend time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Wood McNames; sons, Ryan and Neal McNames; son-in-law, John Cooper; granddaughters Skylar Cooper-Evetovich and Devon Cooper; great-grandson Zed Lockwood; sister, Betty Bulla; mother-in-law Veda Wood; and sister and brothers-in-law; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by daughter Andria McNames Cooper; and sisters Sandy Slankard and Cindy Deems.
