Jessie James and the Lost Trailers were the headliners for the Rooks County Free Fair. Some of her songs that reached the Billboard 200 Chart were “Wanted,” “My Cowboy,” and “I Look So Good.”

Pastor Les Ellis had settled into the community as the new pastor of the United Methodist Church on July 1st.

The Stockton High School cheerleaders attended UCA Camp at Emporia State University and earned three trophies and all-blue ribbons. The squad included Chandler Johnston, Brooke Waller, Ravin States, Carlie Spires, Amy Keas, Alyssa Conyac, and Sara Saunders. Haley Dix did not attend the camp due to a knee injury.

The MCL Stars took third at the Salina MAYB Tournament. The team members were Erik Scott, Justin Wiltfong, Casey Deutscher, Jaden Williams, Brant Wolters, Christian Hamel, Andrew Bellerive, Ethan Hamel, and Cayden Conyac.

One of the boys baseball teams competing in the Stockton recreation summer league were Jarron Turnbull, Christian Turnbull, Quinn Coffey, Nolan Buss, Cole Berry, Devin Eustice, Cameron Hamel, Ethan Means, Trevor Miller, Trenton Howell, and Isaac Reed with coach Doug Howell and assistant coaches Joe Buford and David Reed.

Purple ribbon winners at the 4-H Style Revue were Shaelyn Griffin, Nate Billinger, Brianna Pulec, Carter Tuttle, Tatum Hamilton, Macy Odle, Rebecca Bebb, Allison Dix, Haven Hamilton, Madalyn Billinger, Erin Shaw, Hannah Wildeman, Cecelia Beck, Cassidy Pywell, Emily Conyac, Macey Strutt, Mary Claire Towns, Mark Riley, Taylor Keller, Alexandra Tuttle, Amanda Diaz, Monica Towns, Cynthia Bressler, Audrey Green, Haley Dix, Chance Miller, Rebekah Niblock, Kent Diaz, Jacob Towns, and Matt Riley.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Orr celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at St. Mary’s Parish Hall in Smith Center.

Irvin and Lois Myers had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their family and friends.

Sara Carlson and Ben Treffer were united in marriage on January 30th at the Northfield Assembly of God Church in Gering, Nebraska.

Maile Lani Ceridon and Trevor John Richert were married on May 1st in St. Paul, Minn.

Mary Anna Marshall (1918), Leona M. Kenney (1926), and Gregory W. Marquess (1954) passed away.
