Kenneth Francis “Kenny” Goetz
1942 - 2024
Kenneth Francis “Kenny” Goetz, 81, LaCrosse, passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Hays Medical Center in Hays.
He was born September 16, 1942, in Victoria, Kansas, the son of Alphonse P. and Leoba (Schmidtberger) Goetz. He has lived in LaCrosse since 1973, moving from Great Bend. A 1960 graduate of Plainville High School in Plainville, he was a pumper working for Occidental Petroleum before his retirement.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #2970, both of LaCrosse. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion Posts in LaCrosse and Hays and a Past Commander of the VFW. Kenny enjoyed working in his shop and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War.
On December 1, 1973, he married Barbara Schrock in LaCrosse.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Goetz, LaCrosse; one son, Steven Sanders (Gail), LaCrosse; one daughter, Pamela Watts (Jim), Tolleson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Jarrod Sanders and Heather McWhirter (Dusty), both of Hays, Derek Ogden (Allisann), Alamogordo, N.M., Brianne Dohrmann (Judd), Medicine Lodge, and Micaela Ogden, Tolleson, Ariz.; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Norman Goetz and Jim Goetz (Sue), both of Green Valley, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, LaCrosse, with Father Stephen Dabanka officiating.
The inurnment will be at the LaCrosse City Cemetery, LaCrosse.
In lieu of flowers or plants, the family requests memorials to the Kansas Honor Flight or the Wounded Warrior Project.
