New but familiar faces at Stockton City Hall
Stockton City Hall has made some changes in the last few months.
The first was the hiring of a new city manager/clerk. Kayla Hilbrink took over the position on November 1st after serving as the assistant city clerk since January 2019.
Hilbrink stated, “I look at this new position as a step up in my career.”
Some of Hilbrink’s many duties include record keeping, budgeting, grant writing, City planning, public relations, and exercising ordinances. She also oversees the street, sewer, water, and electric departments, and the EMS and fire departments. Plus, having worked for the City during the past four years, Hilbrink is also knowledgeable about the ongoing City projects, with the biggest project of the new Solomon Valley Manor now completed.
Upcoming City projects include childcare needs, hiring staff for the open City positions, and applying for a grant to finish the City Park pour-in-place renovations.
Many know that Hilbrink served as the Rooks County Commissioner for District #1 for the past year. Hilbrink stated, “I really enjoyed my time as a commissioner, and it was a tough decision to make when the city manager/ clerk position opened up. But the decision had to be made due to the incompatibility of serving both jobs.”
Brook Dix is stepping into Hilbrink’s old position as assistant city clerk. Dix started on November 27th after serving as a loan processor for Solutions North Bank for the past seven and a half years.
Dix said he looks at this job as a new journey and a change of pace. He will oversee accounts payable, payroll, Municipal Court, social media, the City’s website, and other duties.
Dix is a 2002 Stockton High School graduate who received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from Fort Hays State.
Both are settling into their new duties and look forward to serving the City of Stockton.
