Larry D. Baxter
1946 - 2025
Larry D. Baxter, 79, of Holton, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, with family by his side.
He was born May 5, 1946, in Plainville, the son of Jack Duane and Ileta Faye (McCune) Baxter.
Larry attended Stockton High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1974, serving three tours in Vietnam and earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He worked for B&B in Holton, Pottawatomie County Road and Bridge, and Raney Exterminator in Marysville. Larry, alongside his friend, Lyle Gibson, owned and operated L & L Exterminators out of Onaga for many years.
He was a member of Circleville Christian Church, Holton V.F.W. Post 1367, Onaga V.F.W., and Topeka Shriners. He was honored to attend two Jackson County Honor Flights.
Larry married Norma Lee Steele on December 21, 1968, in Corning, Kansas; they celebrated over 56 years together.
Survivors include his wife, Norma of the home; two daughters, Sheila Voorhees (Archie) of Luverne, Minn., and Audrey Baxter of Holton; sister, Karol Rice (Dan) of Topeka; brother, Garry Baxter (Lorrie) of Beloit; sister-in-law, Janeil Baxter of Andover; seven grandchildren, Justin, Alex, Kaylee, Jack, Josie, Creighton and Cooper and five great-grandchildren with one on the way, a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ileta Baxter, and a brother, Barry Baxter.
A Funeral Service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Circleville Christian Church. Burial with Military Honors followed at the Corning Cemetery.
