The story behind Xander Eugene’s Treasures Inc.
NOW OPEN; Grand Opening Fri., Nov. 24th
Xander Eugene Glisson was born on May 9th, 2005, at 11:27 a.m. in Hays, Kansas, to Jack and Marie Glisson.
Xander was a fun-loving kid with a personality that knew no fear. As a young child, he was a daredevil. Xander loved to be outdoors, where he could jump from high places and from the swing set, where one time, when he jumped off, he did manage to break both of his arms simultaneously. And being one of four boys, he protected his younger brother.
As Xander grew up, he fell in love with video gaming and became an avid gamer. He liked to work out and spend time with his family and friends. He adored his animals, especially his dog Rascal. Above all else, Xander loved his family.
On March 4th, 2023, Xander, for reasons unknown to his family and friends, took his own life at the age of 17.
Xander’s dad and stepmom, Jack and Kristyn Glisson, with the help of Linda Glisson (Xander’s grandma), started Xander Eugene’s Treasures, Inc. to bring suicide prevention and awareness to the community and county.
They are a non-profit that relies on the sales of its thrift store and the donations given by people who fund what they do.
They also donate 10% of the store's sales to suicide prevention and awareness foundations around the state.
At Xander Eugene’s Treasures, Inc., people will find resources and a staff that is always ready to help them through a crisis or help them get the resources to help themselves, a friend, a family member, or just someone you know who is or has had thoughts of suicide. You can call 785-320-0874 or the 988-crisis line or stop by Xander Eugene’s at 412 Main Street in Stockton, where they have material that can help people find the resources they need.
The store is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
They also offer group meetings for Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide as well as support groups for those who suffer from the thought of suicide.
Soon, Xander’s Eugene’s Treasures hopes to have a crisis center opened and fully running with volunteers to help save as many lives as they can. Suicide is the Number 2 leading cause of death in the age range of ten years to 35 years.
(Xander Eugene’s Treasures Inc. Grand Opening is set for Friday, November 24th during Olde Tyme Christmas.)
