Sentinel-Times will be on newsstands on Thursdays
Not to affect Online Subscribers
We’ve always heard that change is inevitable—sometimes for the better, sometimes not. Next week, we face a shift that affects not just our staff, but every loyal reader who counts on the Sentinel-Times each week.
On Wednesday, October 14, we were notified by our printer in Hutchinson of a new schedule that will take effect beginning with next week’s issue dated Thursday, November 5th. We’ve picked up the freshly printed papers in Hays on Wednesday mornings for many years, ensuring you found the Sentinel-Times on newsstands on Wednesday and in your mailbox soon thereafter.
Starting next week, however, that will change. The newspaper will now be ready for pick-up on Thursday morning, not Wednesday. This means you’ll find the Sentinel-Times on the newsstands a day later—on Thursday. For our valued local print subscribers, your paper will now arrive on Friday instead of Thursday. We know this isn't what you want.
“We never wanted to disrupt the routine our readers have come to expect. This change wasn’t our choice, but we’re committed to keeping everyone informed and supported during the transition,” stated Susan Schneider, co-owner of the Sentinel-Times.
If you receive our online edition, your digital copy will still arrive Tuesday morning via email.
For now, we’re not sure whether these adjustments are temporary or here to stay. Rest assured, we are doing everything we can to advocate for the same print schedule, or a day earlier, instead of a day later. For now, though, we are in a “wait and see” mode, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
“We’re hopeful this delay isn’t permanent. No matter what, we’ll keep pushing for solutions that best serve our readers,” said Bart Hamilton.
Thank you for your understanding, your loyalty, and for being part of the Sentinel-Times community as we navigate this new chapter together.
