One of Royce Williams’ CBG handmade cigar box guitars has made it into the talented hands of Jeff Losawyer, lead guitarist of the music group Voodoo Moonshine. The band had pre-released their new single, “What a Way to Go” online earlier this year and that is how Royce and the band began their journey of working together. Royce heard the song and found the group on Facebook. He reached out to them to talk about music. Jeff said they began discussing guitars through social media since the single features a slide guitar. It then went from talking about guitars to Jeff working with Royce on a guitar to be featured in the music video for the single. (The video will be taped at a later date due to the COVID-19 pandemic.) The guitar Royce designed will also be part of the four-page photo shoot and article about the band in the May edition of “Flirt” magazine (on sale now), with an endorsement from Jeff in the storyline. So check out the article and please go to VooDoo Moonshine’s Facebook page to watch for the release of the video, listen to some great music featuring Royce’s signature guitar, and find out more about the band!

And that’s not all…. Jeff has already ordered another custom guitar from Royce. The two are working on the design with snakeskin and leather as possible materials to be integrated into the motif.

Royce seems to be on his way to getting his name out there in the music industry. He started out making the guitars as a hobby a few years ago when he watched YouTube videos about designing custom cigar box guitars for his grandkids. He now has designed or sold his guitars to Jeff from VooDoo Moonshine, to country star Cole Ritter and Scott Weiss, who was inducted into the 2012 Blues Hall of Fame. Weiss has also reached out to Royce about placing some of his guitars in his store AND getting a custom made guitar for his European tour this fall. Royce said, “Imagine maybe one of my guitars touring Europe!”

Plus, an order for a Harley Davidsonthemed guitar is also in the works with the guitar to be sent to Seattle to live. Royce said he will still make his guitars for the fun of it, but plans on limiting custom designs to ten orders a year. Royce stated, “I don’t want to get overwhelmed and rushed. That would take all the fun out of it, and if I’m not having fun making them, then I’ll quit doing it. And I’m not ready to quit yet!”

With the exposure Royce is sure to get from the video and endorsement from Jeff in VooDoo Moonshine’s magazine feature and music videos, Royce will be as busy as he wants to be making custom guitars for the ever-growing demand for his unique product.

(Voodoo Moonshine was formed in Memphis, TN in 2003 by Jeff Lowsawyer. Their debut album, “Decade of Decay,” was released in March 2005 and did extremely well deep into 2007. The band was voted “Number One Band” seven times in England, six times in Japan and was one of the top three requested bands in Ireland during that time period. After their tour, the band took some time off while Jeff worked on a solo album and continued to write music. Interestingly enough a period of twelve years passed before Jeff heard Pedro Espada singing on a YouTube video. Jeff reached out to him about singing some of his songs. It took some persistence on Jeff’s part, but when Jeff invited Pedro and his band mates of Rockitfly to Daytona Beach Bike Week 2018 to jam, things went well and the guys ended up merging together to bring back Voodoo Moonshine. The band signed a new management deal with Brad Lee Entertainment in early 2020 and their first video release, “What a Way to Go,” will feature Royce’s guitar.)
