Results from Tuesday’s Election!

The 2021 General Election for cities/schools in Rooks County was held last Tuesday, November 2nd.

A complete list of the results was provided Wednesday morning by Rooks County election officer, Ruthmary Muir.

Counting the votes ran close to midnight Tuesday evening last week, as there were more races decided by write-ins than the candidate who filed for office.

There was a 29% voter turnout in Rooks County for this year’s election, which amounted to 1,039 of the 3,584 registered voters checking in.

Of interest locally were the three positions up for grabs on the USD 271 Board of Education.

Four candidates, BJ Hoeting and Chad Sterling, and incumbents Jesse Stithem and Daphne Plumer, had a closely contested election for these positions. The third- and fourth-place finishers were seperated by just 15 votes.

Vote totals are as follows: BJ Hoeting, 324; Jesse Stithem, 292; Chad Sterling, 247; and Daphne Plumer, 232.

Other contested races included the two positions for Plainville City Council; Plainville City Mayor; and three positions on the USD 270 Board of Education-Plainville.

The rest of the races listed were either candidates who ran unopposed or were decided by write-ins.

James Balthazor (277 votes) and Skylar Rudman (177 votes) won the two open seats on the Plainville City Council. Other vote-getters included: Ryan D. Weltmer, 167; Frank Austin, 128; and Lisa K. Harold, 88 Ḟor Plainville City May

Ḟor Plainville City Mayor, Quentin Meyers was re-elected with 276 votes compared to 162 votes for Bret Greenwood.

There were four candidates running for the three open positions on the USD 270-Plainville School Board. Winning those seats included: Scott Staab, 356 votes; Christopher Hansen, 323; and Harrison T. Gilliland, 269. Running as a write-in was Jared Ganoung. He received 221 votes.

Reesa Brown, running unopposed, received 234 votes for Stockton City Commission.

For Palco City Council (two positions), there was just one name, Lynette Chard, on the ballot. She received 20 votes and write-in Greggory Whisman received 19. Write-In Johni Keller

Write-In Johni Keller received 25 votes for Palco City Mayor.

For Palco USD 269 School Board, the three receiving the most votes in Districts 4, 5, and 6 included: District 4—Tom Benoit, 11 votes; District 5—Myron Keller (writein), 3 votes; and District 6—Shawn Clark (writein), 6.
