Members of the PRIDE committee met during the noon hour at the Chamber Office on Tuesday, February 11th. After President Amber Muir called the meeting to order, she read last month’s minutes, which were approved as presented. Next, a thank you note/email from Ron Gallaway for the Chamber Check he received for taking second place in the Christmas Lighting Contest was read. The Treasurer’s Report was then given with the bank balance being $1,381.52 as of February 11th.

During Committee Reports, PRIDE will again ask for sponsors for the downtown flower planters for this summer. A notice about the sponsorship will be sent out in an upcoming Chamber Newsletter. PRIDE is still looking for projects to do for the PRIDE Day to be held on April 29th. People will need to contact a PRIDE officer so the cleanup projects can be put on the list.

Kayla Hilbrink is working on getting new sandwich board/staking signs for the PRIDE award signs. The next meeting of the PRIDE organization will be held on Tuesday, March 10th during the lunch hour at the Chamber Office.

The Stockton Area Chamber of Commerce met for its monthly meeting at Stitch and Chatter at 5:15 p.m. on February 11th. Krob’s Liquor co-hosted the meeting. Jacque Beckman from Nex-Tech gave a program about Nex-Generation Round Up for Youth to the members present.

After the very informative presentation, president Chris Sander opened the regular meeting by going over items under Old Business. The new feature in the Chamber Newsletter will be “What’s There To Do Around Here?” featuring a Chamber business each month. The Christmas Promotion follow-up meeting was held and the biggest decision the Chamber will need to make in the next few months is whether to keep the event on the Friday after Thanksgiving or move it to that Saturday. Chamber members and businesses are asked to email their thoughts and ideas to the Chamber Office.

At this time, 24 members have paid their 2020 dues. Reminder emails and letter will go out soon to those who haven’t rejoined yet and to prospective members.

The Peony Festival committee has begun working on the event. The plan is to kick off the day with a free pancake feed, hold a Peony Rock Poker Walk and have a vendor fair throughout the day. An afternoon parade is being planned as well, with a sidewalk chalk contest and garden tours. There is still a need for committee chairs, so anyone interested should notify Chamber director Jayne Prockish as soon as possible. The next Peony Festival planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 18th at the Chamber Office.

Next month’s Chamber membership meeting will be held at Heritage Insurance on Tuesday, March 10th at 5:15 p.m.
