These young people from Stockton High School are amazing kids, and this community is so blessed by their leadership and hearts full of caring for others.

Last Friday, April 15, Nancy Becker, director of Stockton Housing Authority and manager of Valley View Apartments, and her husband, Bob, maintenance director, needed help in moving a tenant dealing with cancer from one apartment to another that is more accessible for his needs.

One call to Bobbi Basart on Thursday was all it took to get this troupe of volunteers who came on Friday, even though it was a holiday from school, and moved everything the man owned in one hour. Bobbi had let Nancy know that there would be four kids, and she was still trying to get a couple more. It was amazing to have eight kids show up, in addition to Bobbi and Justin Basart, who just got right to task and stayed on task until the move was completed.

Bob instructed the kids to take a picture of the cabinet or closet or shelving in various places, then move the items to the other apartment and set everything in place just as it was. Another amazing thing was that most of the kids didn’t even have their phones with them, but between those that did, enough photos were taken so that the move went quickly and orderly.

When the tenant got home from his chemo treatment, he was amazed that it had been done so quickly, and everything was in place. He appreciated it so much, and so did the Beckers! Thank you, Bobbi and Justin, and the excellent help of these young people. We are “Stockton Proud” of you all!
