Kansas Airports to receive $53.42 million in response to COVID-19

Rooks County Regional Airport to receive $20,000

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao announced Tuesday last week the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will award $53,420,413 in airport aid to 80 airports in Kansas to help respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency. This historic grant funding is part of the Trump Administration’s newly created Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Airport Grant Program , an effort to provide unprecedented and immediate relief to American families, workers, and businesses.

“This $10 billion in emergency resources will help fund the continued operations of our nation’s airports during this crisis and save workers’ jobs,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.

The Rooks County Regional Airport will receive $20,000.

Other northwest Kansas airports to receive money are:

• Hays Airport, $1,049,358

• Atwood-Rawlins County, $30,000

• Cheyenne County Municipal, $20,000

• Great Bend Municipal, $69,000

• Hill City Municipal, $20,000

• Ness City Municipal, $20,000

• Norton Municipal, $30,000

• Oakley Municipal, $1,000

• Oberlin Municipal, $30,000

• Phillipsburg Municipal, $30,000

• Russell Municipal, $30,000

• Scott City Municipal, $30,000

• Smith Center Municipal, $20,000

• Trego WaKeeney, $1,000

• Tribune Municipal, $20,000
