On Saturday February 8th, Stockton High School students Beatrice Griebel, Ellie Bellerive, Isaac Reed and Cappi Hoeting competed in the KSHSAA Regional Piano Festival held in Malloy Hall on the campus of Fort Hays State University.

This was the fourth year seniors Beatrice and Ellie have taken piano solos to the regional festival. This was the third regional contest for Isaac, who is a junior this year, and was Cappi’s first time to compete as a freshman.

Beatrice performed the piano solo, “Notturno” by Edvard Grieg and received a I Rating for her performance. Ellie played the piano solo, “Notturno” by Valerie Roth Roubos, and received a II Rating for her performance. Isaac Reed’s performance piece was “Impromptu op. 142 No. 2” by Franz Schubert. Isaac received a I Rating. Cappi’s selection was “Stars and Wind” by Catherine Rollin. She received a I Rating

By receiving I Ratings, Beatrice, Cappi and Isaac are now eligible to compete at the State Piano Festival in Wichita this Saturday, February 22nd. Beatrice and Isaac have participated at the State Contest in previous years, with this being Cappi’s first time at State.

Congratulations to all of the piano students on your high ratings. And good luck to Beatrice, Isaac and Cappi at the State Piano Festival.
