* A business change on Stockton’s Main Street came as quite a surprise to practically everyone when it became known that the Boyd & Conn partnership had been dissolved with Glen Conn buying out his partner, Donald Boyd. The grocery store and meat market had been a well known and highly respected business institution for over 19 years. Glen stated that the store would continue to operate on the same principals as in the past, and would still be under the same name for the next year.

* Stanley Carver was hired as the City’s new police officer, replacing John Wehrli. He had been working as an assistant to John Brown with the Rooks County Road and Bridge Department.

* The four-room frame house belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Lorraine Williams and family had been destroyed by fire on Saturday evening while the family was away. The house and contents were either destroyed b y the fire or ruined by smoke and water so very little was salvaged. The cause of the fire was undetermined.

* Mr. and Mrs. Tommy O’Reagan were the parents of a daughter, Mary Margaret, born on February 20th.

* As We See It: Spring is just around a couple of corners now.

* Looking Backward Fourteen Years Ago: Webster’s Peter Pan Store was announcing that it was going on a cash basis. The County had purchased a new two-way radio system, which was to be in operation in a month or two for the benefit of the law officers.

* Tammy Jane Odle was the guest of honor on her third birthday at a supper party given by her parents and brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Gale Odle, Terry and Ted.

* On sale at Slansky IGA were twenty Texas red grapefruit, California navel oranges or Washington Red Delicious apples for $1.00, Danish canned picnic hams for $1.99, seven cans of Rainbow cut green beans, cream style corn or early June peas for $1,00, and large frying chickens for 35¢ a pound. * Mr. and Mrs. Max
